Life Explained

The following fun story is courtesy from our friends at Casey Research:

God created the dog and said: “Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.”

The dog said: “That’s a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I’ll give you back the other ten?”

So God agreed.

Then God created the monkey and said: “Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I’ll give you a twenty-year life span.”

The monkey said: “Monkey tricks for twenty years? That’s a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?”

And God agreed.

In turn, God created the cow and said: “You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer’s family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.”

The cow said: “That’s kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I’ll give back the other forty?”

And God agreed again.

Finally, God created man and said: “Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I’ll give you twenty years.”

But man said: “Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?”

“Okay,” said God, “You asked for it.”

So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Where Are All The Unbiased Online Business Resources?

For over a year, we’ve been publishing The Wealth Vault, which is an all-encompassing compilation of researched & vetted wealth-building resources and investment vehicles. Everything is tested and evaluated before being included in the vault, and while no actual “recommendations” are made, nothing without value makes it through the rigorous process.

Now, just to be clear, The Wealth Vault has nothing to do with marketing or running a business. It’s for people who want to use money to make more money, in unconventional ways (i.e. not just by sticking it in a savings account at your local bank). In other words, income to be made through any Wealth Vault resource is almost exclusively through passive investments.

As we all know, marketing and selling is not about passive income (and if you don’t know, read my post called Why Marketing and Passive Income Don’t Mix). But not all income needs to be passive; if you have a passion, want to help others by sharing it, see value in creating more value, and just generally want to DO and ACCOMPLISH things in life, you might very well want to start a business venture.

Of course, these days running an online business is the top choice for many. Start-up costs are minimal, audience reach is greater, and leveraged opportunities are generally more abundant online than in a traditional offline brick-and-mortar business.

As someone who has interviewed and/or worked with nearly everybody who’s anybody in the internet marketing and online entrepreneur community, through a journey that has continued for six years and counting, I have come to a few conclusions:

The Dark Night of The Soul

When I was a teenager, the one thing I dreaded (or feared) the most was leaving behind childhood friends in Southern California and starting a new life in, holy @#$%, the real South. Georgia, the Peachtree State, to be specific.

My step-mother offered me a way out — a way to say “Sayonara” to some of the trouble I was getting myself into in San Diego.

First, when hearing my initial resistance, she offered the typical advice most well-meaning mothers do: “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

“Yeah, yeah, whipdy-do,” I thought to myself.

Then she ramped it up a bit:

I heard her say that when we’re afraid of something, what we want more than anything else is to make it go away.

We want our life to go back to the way it was before we found out that there was something to be afraid of.

We want to build a high wall and live our old life behind it. But, that’s not our old life at all. That’s nothing more than just our new life with a wall around it.

Yup, nothing ever stays the same!

Our choice is not about going back to the way things were. Our choice is either about a) hiding or b) going right to the heart of the thing that scares us.

Keeping Business Real in a World of Fluff!

The other day, a mutual subscriber of a private lifestyle design and business-development forum we’re a part of needed some starting advice on how to create a successful “online business” of his own.

As is the case with a lot of people these days, his question and interest needed to be validated and adorned with a lot of hand-holding and you-can-do-it replies.

It wasn’t just good enough, in other words, for him to SEE (and soak in) solid answers around questions like:

>> Your experience. What has and hasn’t worked for you?

>> What are your passions and interests?

>> What unique skills and valuable ideas can you bring to the market?

>> What are the various business models that work online?

All good questions, of course. Yet, then the “Yeah, buts” started coming out.

Before we knew it, there were six forum pages of posts, and the commonly themed replies from him, after the 3rd page, were this:

“Okay, I know what you’re saying there, _______ (person he’s addressing). But, I still don’t see how that will _______ (fill in what he’s trying to make a reality), as I don’t have the _______ (his excuse for invalidating the advice).”

The point is this:

Like the people in the LOA / metaphysical arenas who NEED every new book, online course, or teleseminar that comes out to feel like a whole and evolving person, the same miscue is placed by many would-be business folk.

The former, without even knowing it, use their participation in the latest  personal growth ebook giveaway (amassing downloads after downloads of ever-confusing and often countering info) as the equivalent of their ‘spiritual Prozac.’

The latter, not realizing the voice inside that’s saying, “I must have all corners covered before I start, and I must refute anything I know won’t work for me,” just need a few doses of realism.

The Big (“Poor Me”) Gamble

I didn’t set out with a desire to create a post about a topic so dispiriting — so head-shakingly disgusting — to start off the week.

Nope, actually… instead, Heather and I were thinking about creating a poll around the very inspiring subject of “money multiplication” — as in, growing the digital ‘fiat’ cash in your bank/brokerage account and turning most of it into real assets that accumulate into sustainable wealth.

But, that’ll have to wait (or not, if you’re already a paid-up WV member)… as for now, I’ve got a gripe with the MSM (Main Stream Media), as expressed through 60 Minutes.

Last night, as Leslie Stahl was introducing her segment called “The Big Gamble,” my mind was instantly wired to hear a report on the the state of the industry, what new methods people are using to win big, or simply just the psychological make-up of somebody who goes “all in” (er, bets BIG).

Little did I expect to see one of the most biased, my-agenda-has-been-set interviews ever orchestrated by the 40-year-old TV news magazine…

Going All In For Life – Ready?

2010 is fast becoming to an end — less than 12-hours left, actually, as I’m writing this post.

So, by now, you’ve probably received a lot of advice about making (or not making) resolutions, plans for the New Year, and just being a more productive, value-driven person in general.

Scratch that. I know you HAVE!

Let’s face it, if you have an email, you get all kinds of seemingly must-read advice (heck, sometimes we’ve even put “must read” in the subject lines of past emails).

So yes, we, too, get stuff all the time… some of it great and uniquely usable. But, to be straight, most of it is just ‘me too’ surface-level drivel from self-appointed gurus-of-the-moment.

The approach we’ve taken over the years is simple, however:

We claim to know little… unless, that is, at the time, we know more than our current awareness would allow via experience. In other words, we do our best to NOT get too ‘turned on’ by any new idea, growth method, spiritual precept, or dominant social thought UNLESS we see it as instrumental in moving us forward.

A Renegade Christmas Video Worth Your Time

Christmas means a lot of different things to different people.

To your child, it might be about Santa Claus and sharing gifts with friends and family.

To your neighbor, it might be about Midnight Mass and worshiping a chosen Messiah.

To you, we hope it’s about joy, love and exciting expectations.

The Christmas spirit is YOUR spirit. The laughter and merriment associated with the season come from within you. The Christmas star and bright lights shine from your soul.

So on that note, we — the Goss family and our team at LWL Worldwide — wish you an incredibly joyful and Merry Christmas.

We appreciate you as our customer, subscriber, blog reader, and/or social media connection who digs what we do — and we dig you right back.

2010 hasn’t been an easy year for many of us, so we’d like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making it great in spite of tough conditions.

Of course, we all know that tough times make us stronger, and deserve our gratitude for the opportunity to learn, grow and develop. But sometimes it’s easy to lose sight of that fact when we’re in the thick of it — so we admire you for keeping your skin in the game.

And we’d like to ask you to join us in making 2011 an even better year, where we can all rise above socio-economic situations if we choose to.

To spread some holiday joy, we’d like to share a “new classic” Christmas song by The Florin Street Band, led by Leigh Hagerwood, who had a dream to create a heart-warming song that would capture the true spirit of Christmas.

When record companies weren’t interested, Hagerwood took the renegade approach we like so much and made it himself (with a little help from his friends).

The video is set in the innocent, traditional Victorian era, and has echoes of Dickens and other classic childhood Christmas memories… along with a little bit of the Cheers theme song (in our humble opinions).

Enjoy watching it with your family or friends, and share this blog post to spread the Christmas cheer even further.

Obliterate *Anything* That Stands In Your Way!

That’s the promise (the title of this post) from a new book I want to tell you about.

But, first, a big “Thank You” for all the participation in our latest post.

There were lots of interesting comments about the WikiLeaks ordeal, as it relates to more and more government intrusion, and the post sparked several LWL readers to speak out passionately.

If you partcipated, we always appreciate your time spent expressing your opinion.

Speaking of that…

When it comes to another subject — the art & science of manifestation — if you’ve been an LWL reader for any length of time, you probably know we have some strong opinions on the subject.

(Just use the ‘SEARCH’ bar at the upper right of this page and type in the word “manifestation” and you’ll see what I mean).

But, another person who we can always count on to have an opinion, even if it is driven from a place of mad professor-like personal experimentation (while ours, in contrast, is through diving deep into the world of metaphysics via many, many critical-thinking interviews), is Jason Mangrum.

He’s the person responsible for helping me get ManifestLife.com up and running, from a technical perspective, way back in 2005. Yup, he has indeed been the evil genius behind several people’s pursuits into the fascinating, expansive, and sometimes quirky and fanatical world of metaphysics.

But, now that he’s released another guide (in the form of his own writing and research), I’d be doing our readers a disservice if I didn’t tell you about it.

It’s 99 pages of pure, step-by-step techniques for unleashing your human potential.

And, without question, it goes 3x to 10x DEEPER than the standard-fair ‘The Secret’ and ‘LOA’ type information floating around out there.

As Jason wrote to tell me:

“Some of it is ‘way out there’ but then again, so am I. 😉 Plus, it introduces other consciousness technologies that most other people haven’t heard of yet (such as Matrix Energetics — awesome stuff!)”

So, with that in mind, I’ll just simply end this post with:

If you’re still yearning to explore the nether regions of your INNER WORLD in order to create more wealth, better health, peace, and freedom, GET THIS BOOK…
