You get the gist… working FOR entrepreneurs who owned their own products and who were in the business, presumably, of ADDING value to people’s lives through those products.

Sure, it was nice to be able to work from my home-office… the work allowed me to be autonomous, self-reliant, and in control of my schedule and, most importantly, my association with people who I felt were like-minded, ethical, and in business for all the right reasons.

While those reasons are another conversation for another time, the short version of that phrase (“right reasons”) is this:

Is the business associate, vendor, JV partner, or client doing what they’re doing for the love of the game (to use an expression often associated with Michael Jordan) — for their genuine interest and fascination with their niche, product line, or topic ?

Not only is KNOWING this answer essential when dealing with others, it’s what you should ask yourself anytime you think you’re supposed to be selling or marketing something.

When your interests are MORE rooted in exploration, truth, and ever-expanding knowledge, and less in what others say is trendy, profitable, and mainstream, you’ll naturally surround yourself with curious, open-minded, authentic people.

Now, here’s some million-dollar advice: when you find those people — and you will if you come from a place of inquisitive-fascination about a topic — HAVE A CONVERSATION with them.

Better yet, tell them that you’d like to record it, and share the recording with fellow like-minded people. Explain to the interviewee / teacher / fellow explorer that you”ll end up packaging up various interviews on the same topic and sell ‘em. Give away a few interviews in exchange for somebody’s email / name, and then sell them (don’t worry about the word “sell” — your integrity, purpose and passion will shine through your “pitch”) on more of your interviews.

Tell the interviewee that you want the vibe and the energy of the interview to be like you’re both sitting in an empty coffee shop, on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. Tell them to expect unbridled and raw conversation and questioning about the topic, their experiences, successes, failures, etc. (However, DO NOTE that true blue professional interviewing requires you to have the skills to be much more than a conversationalist.)

How do I know this is a good business model to follow? (Assuming you want to create, own, and sell your own product):

Because I’ve been living it for the past 5 years full time!

It started in early 2005 when I had (and still do, but in different degrees and depths) a fascination for “manifestation / conscious creation”. 14 mentors later, The World’s First Multi-Media Manifestation Portal was born (i.e. ManifestLife.com — er, don’t try and go to that site. The content is being re-purposed).

For nearly 20 months, that first interview-driven product was an honest exchange of MY energy… My time, interests, and hard work in putting it together for people’s investment (money) in themselves. I collected their investment, and they collected valuable content (my investment). Win-Win!

When I was operating solo, interviewing solo, and being a solo entrepreneur, Heather was doing the same thing (well, until that one day when we met. LOA in action, baby).

Since then, of course, we’ve expanded, added products, and re-configured processes, brands, etc. Yet, still to this day, Heather and I know that interviewing will always be the foundation of what we do.

Why ?

Life is part of a continual process of exploration with not just ourselves, but with “others” too.

Like Heather has said many times before here (it’s so important, I’m going to repeat it):

When you strip away all the fluff, hyperbole, and timid behind-the-computer communication, you’re only left with fresh, candid, uncensored conversation.

That basis is the root for nearly everything we do — and that’s because secrets are discovered, ideas are created, thoughts are provoked, and answers are revealed during the course of asking the right questions of the right people.

What is really required in these situations is going into teaching mode – NOT learning mode – to serve others, give value to the Universe, and reap the rewards that come from that simple formula.

Money cannot be made any other way. It’s a simple equation – a value-for-value exchange, every time, without exception.

You intellectually KNOW that “money” is a medium of exchange, nothing more and nothing less. There’s no magic way to acquire it without value (i.e., wealth can’t come, and never will come, BEFORE “value” – never has, never will).

You become wealthy (generate value) by starting with this question:

“What am I most talented at and passionate about? And, once I know this answer, how can I use this to solve a problem or give value to a group of people?”

Again, every one — yes, EVERY one — of the millionaires we’ve met and know have had to ask themselves this question and find an answer within.

Other than investing money to earn money, the most powerful and sustained way we know to BUILD (and enjoy pretty quickly) LEVERAGED-wealth is to teach what you know (your life skills, business knowledge, personal experiences, etc.) while guiding, mentoring, and coaching people. Everyone wants to know HOW to do “things”.  Whether it’s health / fitness, finances, business, personal growth, travel, hobbies or lifestyle, there’s ALWAYS an audience who NEEDS (and, yes, WANTS) what you know.

We’re looking for creative people who are tired of consuming, and ready to start giving, while understanding that the act of giving will result in resistance-free receiving (we don’t want people who just want to give without receiving, or people who just want to receive without giving – it just doesn’t work that way, and we can only work with people who understand that Universal give-and-take balance!)

See, we all have something to share. We all have talents and gifts that make us the best in the world at something.

If you’ve created a product, or started a product, or have a great idea for a product that will allow you to teach what you’re good at and help others live a Life Without Limits – then we may want to partner with you as a content producer.

It may be a book you’ve written, or a series of audios you’ve recorded, or even a documentary or movie – if it teaches people how to live a Life Without Limits, and capitalizes on what you know and do well, then you might be a fit for us.

We might need you to expand your product, create something else, or take a slightly different angle. But if you love to create – and not do all the other time-consuming stuff that goes along with getting your creation out to an audience ( like payment processing, fulfillment, affiliate tracking, etc.) – then we may be a perfect match.

Yes, we know there are internet marketing gurus who teach that you need to learn how to create your product, AND build a website, AND write sales copy, AND drive traffic to it, AND take payments, AND set up product launches, AND find affiliates to promote it, AND pay the affiliates, AND do customer service, AND… whew!

Yeah, we understand, the process of selling online can get daunting – especially when you’re attempting to do it by yourself.

We realize most writers, most teachers, and most creators just want to write, teach, and create.

Wouldn’t it be great if someone would do all that other stuff FOR you so you could focus on what you do best?

People often wrestle with their monkey mind when taking on new practices such as yoga or meditation, which require the mind to be still… something that can feel quite foreign to the average Westerner.

And then if someone calls you a “monkey brain”, it usually means they think you’re an idiot.  Larry Winget, who we interviewed the other night, says we’re ALL idiots sometimes (and even he is, more often than most); and that can mean that you’re ignorant (you don’t know any better), stupid (you do know better, but choose not to act on that knowledge), lazy, don’t give a damn, lack vision, have low expectations, don’t recognize the consequences of your actions, have bad habits, poor role models, or no plan.

Most of us, of course, are idiots in more than one of these categories.

Maybe you say you know all about the law of attraction / conscious-living, and have for 20 years, yet you focus all day on what you don’t want.

Or maybe you say you value money, but you’d rather sit around and watch TV or meditate all day. Or maybe you’re content with where you are because you figure it’s all you’re meant to be, do or have.

All of those instances might seem pretty innocent at first, but they’re really idiotic when you think about it.

Monkey-brained!

But now we find out that “monkey brain” can be something good… as in, clever enough to debate intelligently over something.

How do we know this?

Because we found a website called “Hey MonkeyBrain! Where smart people go to argue” (link at the end of this blog post).

So if someone calls you a monkey brain, not only are they not necessarily insulting you, but they may be actually giving you a compliment.

“Oh, no!” we hear some of you saying. “Arguing is too negative to be considered a compliment!”

Well, why does that have to be the case?  Certainly if someone has a strong opinion or a stance on something that they know about, and can intelligently defend that position, that’s an admirable trait.  We’re not saying that it’s bad to have an open mind; in fact, an open mind is a very good thing in most instances.

But if you’re set in what you think, because you’ve got personal experience or knowledge to back it up, or it’s just something you feel strongly about, why shouldn’t you be allowed to voice your opinion — even if others just as strongly disagree?

We’ve quoted this before, but French essayist Joseph Joubert once said:

“It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it.”

And as Jim Rohn put it:

“You’ve got to argue, you’ve got to debate. Here’s what happens to a good idea when it’s debated: it grows, it refines. Sometimes it even becomes spectacular.”

Not only that, but having an open mind to the extent that you blindly accept what others say (even what so-called “teachers”, “gurus” or “experts” say) means that you lose the ability to think for yourself.

You become a puppet, with your strings being pulled by other people.  Sometimes your strings get pulled every which way, as you flip-flop back and forth based on different (and conflicting) things that other people say.  You start to live an incongruent life, which means you can’t attract what you want into your life.  And eventually you lose control of what makes you “you”.

What’s the solution to cutting the puppet strings and becoming a real (read: well-rounded, congruent, and all-out powerful) person, just like Pinocchio wanted to be?

Think!  Ponder!  Question!  Wonder!  Debate!  Argue!

Get up on your virtual soapbox, and tell the world where you stand!
