No-Limit Living News: Weekend Wrap-Up
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week ending: September 6th, 2009
We're here to keep you UPDATED on our
musings about personal growth, business, health, and life.
Here's the useful news and unique insights, pulled from the
LWL news desk, that you may have missed this week (click the bold links to learn more about each item):
The Over-Abused Manifestation Technique
Okay, the technique can work... if done right. It can also be a trap if done wrong, abused or misunderstood. Congruency is a key when it comes to manifestation, as in all other areas of life. Your thoughts, your emotions, your values — all of them must sync up so you can walk your talk. So why do we have so many frauds out there masquerading as experts and gurus?
Man Playing On $3.5 Million Dollar Violin Ignored In D.C.
This story is probably as good as any to point out just how over-consumed and self-interested we are as a collective in this day and age. To walk past one of the greatest violinists on earth, and not stop to listen to the greatest pieces of music in the modern world being played on one of the finest violins, is exactly what they mean when they tell us to “stop and smell the roses.” We find ourselves too busy doing to live, and too busy working to make real money.
The Butterfly Circus
We've been passing along a flagship message over the past several months, and a short online movie we found really plays it out in a nice way. The message, in the spirit of I ♥ Huckabees is simply: "No manure, no magic." (That doesn't mean you have to go out and find hardship to get success; it means that, no matter how bad your life seems at times, there's always something special in the experience.) At the height of the Great Depression, the showman of a renowned circus leads his troupe through the devastated American landscape, lifting the spirits of audiences along the way. During their travels they discover a man without limbs at a carnival sideshow, but after an intriguing encounter with the showman he becomes driven to inspire, against everything he has ever believed.
Wealth Is Not An Inside Job
It's pretty trendy these days for personal development teachers to tell you that whatever you're experiencing in your outer world is entirely due to what you're creating in your inner world. But hey, that's only one side of the story — literally! And the truth is, none of them ever got to where they are relying on that black-and-white view of the world. As Tony Robbins says, you can apply the 80-20 rule here... and he'll help you out with that last, very vital 20 (which, in our experience, flips after a certain tipping point and becomes the 80).
Contrarian Quote of The Week
While this week's quote (linked above) makes a valid point when it comes to taking criminality out of the drug business, and while we've all heard the pros and cons of controlling and taxing drugs, what about the "moral hazard" phenomenon that is recognizable in everyday life? That is, if you attempt to keep a person from falling into error, or protect the masses from their own potential excesses or "badness," they become even more susceptible and excessive (or want what they "can't" have). In other words, let's not coerce people to NOT "do" whatever it is they feel they need to do, regardless of how personally debilitating the consequences. We can't spend our asses off, as a nation, protecting the masses from their own stupidity.
Self-Help Publicist Thinks the World Revolves Around Him
This little experience comes from blogger and fellow entrepreneur, Jonathan Fields. Over the years, we can't begin to tell you just how many similar — almost identical — run-ins we've had with people in the metaphysical and self-help arena who completely operate in another universe when it comes to value-added marketing and grounded business practices. Once we had a lady tell us: "If you don't jump onboard this book launch _____ (fill in the blank of well-known stage-walking 'The Secret' caliber teacher), you'll be seen as outcasts." Ah, like we care about that. Obviously, she knew nothing about us. Enter Jonathan's experience above. Same energy, different situation. Read and be amused.
"I would rather continue playing Don Quixote than to become a pawn in a foolish game of chess."

Almost all the others copy/paste what’s been said a million times before, throw in an ad for the latest “breakthrough technique” (also about a million years old) and come back a week later with the same thing.
It’s an amazing world full of amazing people if you scratch beneath the surface. Thanks for scratching!
